The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has released the fifth in a series of tips intended to help the public protect personal and financial data online and at home. This tip focuses on guarding personal information for family members who are susceptible to malicious attacks. Recommendations include keeping security software active, limiting information shared on social media, never clicking on embedded links or attachments from unknown email sources, and discussing how family members can avoid identity theft.

US-CERT encourages users and administrators to review the IRS Security Awareness Tax Tip Number 5 and the US-CERT Tip Preventing and Responding to Identity Theft for additional information.
