Westfall, Oregon

Westfall is an unincorporated community in Malheur County , Oregon ,
United States . Westfall is about 30 miles (48 km) west of Vale .
Westfall has a post office According to the 1990census there were 40
people in the 'township'. It did have a post office.From I 84 just
inside Oregon from Idaho turn onto hwy 201 south to state hwy 20/26.
Go west about 12miles or so to the town of Vale. Continue on hwy 20
another 20 miles or so to the town of Harper. There is a paved road
that goes north from Harper to the town of Westfall, then the pavement
stops according to the map. There is a Westfall cemetery also. The
story of Jasper Westfall, town marshal of Westfall, Oregon and
hisfatal gunfight with killer Asa Carey,blacksmith, barfly and local
hot head - The lightning caused North Ridge Bully Creek Fire located
10 miles northwest of Westfall , OR., burning in brush and grass.
Approx. 15,000 acres The advance of the Barry Point Fireonto private
lands in Oregon has been stopped.

Hello/Fruit Fire (980 acres) is burning in the RedButtes Wildernesson

miles east of the Wilderness.
Status Increased fire behavior on the Goff fire threatens the
community of Seaid Valley and critical infrastructure along Hwy 96.

post is located at the rodeo grounds in Joseph, OR. Crews are
locatedat remote spike camps closer to the fire line to reduce travel
time. Since bow hunting has begun, hunters should be cautious. Area
closures remainin place on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest.
Status The fire islocated in the northern Hells Canyon National
Recreation Area (HCNRA) in the Cache Creek area that is adjacent tothe
Snake River onthe Oregon/Washington border. Poor access and steep
terrain hamper suppression efforts. Yesterday, a wind event prevented
containing the slop-over that occurred on Cemetery Ridge on Monday
evening. The fire has spread south above and paralleling the Imnaha
river and the powerline threatening several ranch structures. High
winds are forecasted again today. The north half of the fire remains
secure.

Valley. The winds on Tuesday afternoon spread the fire northwesterly,
butlate last night as a cold front movedinto the area, the wind
direction changed causing the fire to spread to the east towardHighway
95 north of Jordon Valley. Last night Highway 95 was closed for a time
as the fire threatened to cross the road. Fire crews were able to hold
the fire west of the highway.
Status A pilot caris currently takingtraffic through the fire area,
but delays can occur should the fire or smoke make the road

the afternoon and early evening. Officials on Tuesday evacuated Lake
Creek Youth Camp, Parish Cabin Campground, and surrounding dispersed
